DRILLING MUD COOLING

Drilling Mud Cooling

CPE has been instrumental in developing the use of both refrigerated and radiator (ambient air temperature) mud cooling systems. Initially developed to reduce the problems associated with gas hydrates in the drilling mud returns, the systems have evolved to control hole diameter when drilling through permafrost by reducing the temperature of the drilling fluid.

In addition, these systems are used in high temperature drilling applications to reduce seal and bit performance problems.

When used in invert drilling applications, by reducing the temperature of the drilling mud system, the amount of oil vapour created in the enclosed pit areas when drilling in winter conditions is reduced, which in turn reduces the exposure level for drilling personnel working in these areas.

CPE supplies equipment and experienced personnel to integrate the mud cooling system into the rig mud processing system.
