Richard (Dick) Heenan, P. Eng.

Dick Heenan graduated from McGill University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He has over thirty years of experience in the upstream petroleum industry in a variety of technical and managerial positions, both in field and office roles.

Over the course of his career, Dick has held a variety of positions with a major service company, a multi-national oil company, an offshore drilling contractor, and an oilfield equipment manufacturer. Responsibilities have included; Exploitation Engineer, Drilling Engineer, Drilling Supervisor, Operations Manager, Drilling Manager, and Business Development Manager. He has been involved in projects both onshore and offshore, in North America and overseas. Job assignments have included field supervision of drilling and service rigs, testimony as an expert witness in well control, preparation of Arctic offshore drilling and development scenarios, and US Department of Justice Anti-Trust presentations. Mr. Heenan is a member of APEGGA, SPE and the Canadian Association of Drilling Engineers (CADE). He has published papers and articles through CADE and SPE, as well as several commercial publications.

Dick became a partner in Canadian Petroleum Engineering Inc. in 2004 after he started his own consulting practice. He specializes in the planning, permitting, and management of drilling and related operations in remote locations, particularly the Canadian Arctic. Recent clients have included Devlan Exploration, JOGMEC, Apache Canada, Paramount Resources, and MGM Energy Corp.
